Supercritical water oxidation technology uses water as the medium, utilizing the absence of gas-liquid interfacial mass transfer resistance under supercritical conditions (temperature>374 ℃, P>22.1 MPa) to increase the reaction rate and achieve complete oxidation. Compared with incineration and wet catalytic oxidation, supercritical water oxidation has advantages such as complete oxidation of pollutants, low secondary pollution, and relatively low equipment and operating costs. This technology was proposed by American scholar Modell in the mid-1980s and has become a research hotspot for domestic and foreign experts after photocatalysis and wet catalytic oxidation technologies.
Water in the supercritical state has the properties of both liquid and gaseous water. Its continuously changing density, low electrostatic medium constant, low viscosity and other characteristics make supercritical water an ideal reaction medium with high diffusivity and high solubility. The change of temperature and pressure can be used to control the reaction environment, coordinate the reaction rate and chemical equilibrium, adjust the selective activity of catalysts, etc, The dependence of different substance solubility on supercritical fluid can also be used to achieve reaction and separation in the same reactor.
